Sleep is a set period of time where the mind is unconcious and unaware of its surroundings. The body uses this time to rest from the days events.
Sleep is one of those things that you don't need to think about very often. That is unless you are not getting enough of it. Most people have problems with sleeping at some point in their life even if it's just for a short period.
There are a number of things that can cause sleeplessness including stress, excitement and unsuitable sleeping arrangements. If it gets bad enough it can lead to Insomnia which can seriously affect a persons health. Not getting enough sleep can effect your day to day well being.
Here at Park Beds we understand sleep so that we can provide you with the most suitable beds and mattresses. Our memory foam mattresses are perfect for getting a good nights sleep. Memory foam technology helps to take the pressure off bones and the joints caused by body weight and helps provide a more relaxing sleep.
Rapid eye movement sleep
Rapid eye movement is the stage of sleep which occurs when we are very relaxed. It is characterised by the eyes darting from one side to the other. It occurs four or five times during a nightly sleep and tends to happen when the body is very relaxed.
Non rapid eye movement sleep
When this occurs the body may move around but the brain is quiet. It's a chance for the body to heal itself and hormones are released to help do so. There are four stages to this type of sleep
- The first stage includes relaxation of the muscles. The heart beats slower and body temperature decreases
- Non rapid eye movement sleep is a light sleep which means that waking from it will not leave you feeling disorientated
- Blood pressure falls which leads to slow wave sleep. During this stage it is possible to sleep walk or sleep talk
- Then there is what is known as deep slow wave sleep. Waking from this stage of sleep will leave you confused.
